2018 APA Legislative Events Announced!

2018 is an election year and we can't stress enough the importance of having a strong legislative presence and a healthy PAC fund. The 2018 legislative session starts early this year (January 9) which means our legislative events are scheduled earlier as well. Both of our events will be taking place PRIOR to the APA Mid-Winter Conference.

APA's 2018 priorities include Collaborative Drug Therapy Management and PBM Regulation.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 7, 2018 for the APA Student Legislative Lunch. More than 400 student pharmacists participated in APA's 3rd Annual Student Legislative Lunch on the Capitol lawn, last year. As we've said before, this event allows students to learn about the importance of advocacy, hear from individuals involved in the political process, and interact with legislators during and after lunch. Help us take the hill again this year.

We'll follow up the Student Legislative Lunch with a Legislative Reception on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. The potential impact and overall success of this event is in YOUR hands. Legislators are looking for their constituents when they attend our reception. We try every year to have at least one APA member from each legislative district, and this year will be no different. Mark your calendars now for that day.

This year's reception will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. at the RSA Plaza Terrace and Grill. Prior to the reception, we will have a brief overview of legislative issues at 4 p.m.

Call the office at 334-271-4222 for more information.

We’ll be posting new information and opening registration as we get closer to the event dates.

History of APA's Legislative Events

Alabama pharmacists have gathered in the state capital of Montgomery to "Paint it White" for many years. in 2015, the annual Alabama Pharmacy Association Legislative Day was split into two events on two different days to increase our exposure with legislators and educate them on legislative priorities. These annual events provide us with a greater opportunity to promote pharmacy in Alabama than any other program. This is your chance to educate our lawmakers about the issues that affect pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies. You can’t afford to not be heard!
