2017 APA Legislative Events Announced!
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 7, 2017 for a Legislative Reception from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery, AL. We’ll be working to ensure there is APA representation from each Legislative District as well as working to increase attendance by legislators.
We’ll follow up our Legislative Reception with a Student Legislative Lunch on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. We’ve reserved the South lawn of the Capitol for this event which will include our annual “Pork and Politics” lunch.
It is IMPERATIVE that you make plans to participate in this year’s activities. As we tell you every year, there is power in numbers and legislators want to hear about priorities from their constituents not just the association leadership.
We’ll be posting new information and opening registration as we get closer to the event dates.
History of APA Legislative Day
Alabama pharmacists gather annually in the state capitol of Montgomery to "Paint it White!" for the annual "Alabama Pharmacy Association Legislative Day". This annual legislative event provides us with a greater opportunity to promote pharmacy in Alabama than any other program available. This is your chance to educate our lawmakers about the issues that affect pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies. You can’t afford to not be heard!
In 2015, we held two Legislative events on two different days to increase our exposure with legislators and to educate them on our 2015 priorities during the 2015 legislative session. On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, we held a Legislative Reception at the RSA Plaza Terrace & Grill in Montgomery, AL.
We followed up our Legislative Reception with a Student Legislative Event on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. We’ve reserved the South lawn of the Capitol for this event for a “Pork and Politics” lunch. This event represented a record turnout of Student Pharmacist who followed up the lunch with visits to State Representative's offices across the street to drop off information on Collaborative Drug Therapy Management legislation.
2014 Alabama Pharmacy Association Legislative Day was Thursday, February 6, 2014. We had a record breaking number of pharmacists, students and technicians in attendance for the "Eggs & Issues" breakfast with state legislators.
