The Alabama Pharmacy Association is a nonprofit professional organization with over 1,600 members statewide. The APA offers continuing education programs for pharmacists and technicians, and members take a leading role in lobbying for pharmacy at the state and national level. The APA was established in 1881 and is the oldest professional organization for pharmacy in the state. APA members represent all practices of pharmacy and are committed to their profession and their customers.

Medicaid Tamper-resistant Prescription Pad FAQ's

On April 1, 2008, all hand-written or computer generated/printed Medicaid prescriptions were required to have at least ONE approved tamper resistant feature to prevent copying; modification or erasure; or counterfeiting. Effective October 1, 2008, all of the above specified prescriptions must contain at least one feature from all THREE categories. This does not apply to prescriptions received by fax, phone or electronically. (Read what you need to know ...)

New FDA Labeling Regulations

FDA LABELING REQUIREMENT EFF. 1/1/09
A requirement to provide patients with a FDA maintained toll-free number to report drug side effects and a statement to contact their doctors for medical advice about side effects will become effective January 1, 2009. (read more)

License Renewal Deadline is December 31st!!
All Alabama licenses for Pharmacists, Pharmacies, Non-resident Pharmacies, Institutional Pharmacies, Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Distributors and Retail Medical Oxygen Suppliers expire December 31, 2008. Renew your license today by visiting www.albop.com. If you cannot renew on-line and would like an application mailed to you, please contact the State Board at (205) 981-2280. Renewals received after 12/31/08 are subject to a late fee penalty and any individual that practices without a current license is in direct violation of the Alabama Practice Act and will be charged.
When renewing on-line, make certain to print the confirmation screen as proof of your renewal.
